Each cell shows the Daily Light Integral (DLI, mol/m²/day) that part of the yard receives during the growing season (April 1 – September 1, 9am–5pm). DLI measures cumulative photosynthetically active radiation and is the standard metric for plant growth. Data comes from quarter-hour samples using a clear-sky irradiance model (Meinel) weighted by solar altitude.
